Deceitfulness will chime into a chorus
of outstanding sopranos.
Sharp gaze focused upon only me,
the reflective surface of cold metallic eyes
blinds me, and yet,
I cannot look away.

Hazel once blended well with oceanic blue
meshing equally well with fiery satin,
but the sheen is too harsh and cruel
to those who do not give into the pain.

And I thought that it could be simple
like in times when a smile could say
I love you,
but instead the hurt you've caused has
cut so deeply,
bleeding me out into the bathroom sink.

Naivete led me to think that
I love you meant
I care for you.

But I've learned my lesson now,
it's too late for I'm sorry.
I watch the death of me
in the reflective surface
of what used to be
my lovers eyes.

I cannot look away.
